Pat and Brenda Mahar accepted their missionary assignment in 1994 after spending 8 years in the U.S. in various pastoral roles. Their family served as missionaries to Cameroon and Botswana, Africa for 18 years, where they raised their daughter and son. When they transferred to Greece in 2011, they served as pastors at International Christian Fellowship of Athens (ICF). During their time, they were very involved with inner-city ministries and with refugees from the Middle East who entered Europe, seeing many nominal Muslims come to Jesus. In 2018, they were asked by the AGWM leadership to prayerfully consider moving to Padova, Italy to serve as Pastors/Missionaries after the sudden and untimely loss of missionary colleagues. During the first few months of pastoring the International Christian Fellowship (ICF Padova), they experienced great growth in every ministry, especially the new ministry to students of the University of Padova. The University of Padova, established in 1222, is one of the oldest Universities in Europe and home to the once Professor/Astronomer Galileo Galilei. ICF Padova continues to grow in its ministries to the Italian and international communities in Northern Italy where Pat and Brenda minister to people from more than 30 nations of the world. One third of the congregation come from more than 13 African countries. Pat and Brenda have two children who are married with their own families and serve as full- time missionaries with AGWM. Their daughter Marissa Mahar Barker, and son in law, Matt, are missionaries and pastors in Greece. Their son Marco, and daughter in law, Courtney, are missionaries to Hungary. The Mahars were recently honored by AGWM for their 32 years of missionary service with the Assemblies of God. They continue to serve steadily as Pastors of ICF Padova, Italy nurturing this growing congregation. ICF is also active in humanitarian missions to the country of the Ukraine.
